From Dr. Suzanne White, Chief Medical Officer of the DMC:
The DMC GME Office has been working closely with the WSUSOM Leadership to address academic program opportunities related to the DMC Orthopaedic Residency Program. Today, Dr. Schenk and I are pleased to announce that the DMC Orthopaedic Residency Program will be affiliated with Wayne State University School of Medicine. The notation of the program will now
officially be Detroit Medical Center/Wayne State University.
We know this change is important to [the residents] and one that [the resients have] desired for quite some time. [The] DMC attendings have worked diligently over the past several years to demonstrate meaningful collaboration with WSU faculty through shared didactics, new research partnerships, and the attainment of WSU faculty appointments.
In addition to acknowledging the significant contributions made by DMC orthopaedists to restoring this partnership, we wish to thank Mr. Mullany; Drs. Morawa, Markova, Wiese-Rometsch, and Kromrei; and Deans Sobel and Parisi for making it possible for us to advance our joint vision around orthopaedic academic excellence in Detroit.
Congratulations to all.
