The 6th annual QuESST Research Day was an amazing success!!
From the DMC Pathfinder newsletter:
The Quality Education and Safe Systems Training (QuESST) GME Resident Research Day was held Wednesday at DMC with another record breaking year for participation. There were 42 GME Programs represented and more than 100 medical student, resident, and fellow poster and oral competition participants. Thirty-two Wayne State University School of Medicine and Michigan State College of Osteopathic Medicine faculty members volunteered as competition judges.
First place winners include Dr. Fazeena Shanaz, Internal Medicine Sinai- Grace; Dr. Allie Dakroub, Internal Medicine-Pediatrics; and in the Medical Student Division, Salar Mohamed, Wayne State University School of Medicine.
“Our QuESST GME Resident Research day is my favorite day of the year. The conference represents our medical student, resident, fellow, faculty, program administrators’ and hospital leadership’s dedication to continuously improving the clinical learning environment and ensuring the provision of the highest quality care for DMC patients and families,” says Heidi Kromrei, PhD, DMC Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs.
The QuESST Program is designed to provide DMC residents and fellows with state of the art Quality Improvement (QI) education through the Institution for Healthcare Improvement online school, support from DMC GME Program Faculty, and opportunity to showcase their QI work during the QuESST Conference each year. Since its beginning, more than 2,300 DMC residents and fellows have completed training in QI methods and 379 residents, fellows, and medical students have participated in the QuESST Research Day Competition.
“Our QuESST participants have historically made significant contributions at the DMC,” says Dr. Suzanne White, DMC CAO and CMO. “Their high impact work has translated to better care for patients, families and the community.”
An additional congratulations goes out to Dr. Lisa Dillon, Dr. Heidi Kromrei, and their team for all of the work that went into making this day such a success!
